For the past 2 years, there were many demands for the new generation of lawful interception system in different countries. Due to the new development of telecom service networks, most telecom service providers have tried possible way to upgrade existing core network system for more value-added services provided to their subscribers in the market.
On the other hand, lawful interception system in LEA side may not keep up with the advance of telecom technology. In some countries, LEA staff still uses obsolete LI system for circuit switch system, such as class 5 or class 4 TDM systems. The scope of lawful interception is quite limited on the target voice part, and it eventually results in weak evidence availability for criminal prosecution process in court.
